Cafe 2825 Restaurant Review:
Cafe 2825’s tiny kitchen turns out big flavors in carefully prepared dishes, served amid an inviting, neighborhood Italian ambience. Not often seen on restaurant menus, authentic home-cooking dishes make appearances here. Try the trippa Napolitana, beef tripe, cooked to tenderness and plated with carrots, fennel, peas, onions and marinara, or carciofi ripieni, a whole artichoke filled with seasoned breadcrumbs and onions and topped with diced hardboiled egg. Share a plate of the pappardelle filete di pomodoro --- the homemade noodles are extra-wide and tossed in fresh tomato basil sauce with smoked pancetta. For an entrée, go for pollo e gamberi fagiola, a grilled chicken breast with sautéed shrimp and white beans in scampi sauce presented over rabe and escarole. If you have a high tolerance for heat, order the Italian long hots, which are fiery green beans. Management is justifiably proud of its wine list. For a sweet ending, don't pass up the white pistachio gelato.
