Cafe Soleil Restaurant Review:
Café Soleil looks as if it wants to mimic a Parisian bistro upgraded to a small chic brasserie. The ambience works with the shining tableware on a pristine white cloth contrasting with a well-polished dark wood bar, Art Deco mirror and pseudo Toulouse Lautrec Moulin Rouge frescos. In this environment, Café Soleil cannot decently escape the French bistro’s usual fare, such as escargots, onion soup, vichyssoise, tournedos and bavette --- all authentic. But the restaurant has other ambitions such as offering a choice of appetizers from calamari to crispy Brussels sprouts. There are tempting sandwiches and ample entrées, too, including lobster ravioli and shrimp and grits. You might stay on neutral ground with roasted chicken or steak frites. Saturdays and Sundays you can find a prix-fixe dinner and, of course, there is a worthy cocktails menu every evening.
