Cafe Vienna Restaurant Review:
For those on a quest for authentic German food, this small venue, almost lost amid shops in a strip mall, is a find. The menu is rich with sauerbraten, sauerkraut and bratwurst, and the desserts have an old-world decadence. At lunch, the restaurant draws locals and fans planning to attend an afternoon Tampa Bay Rays game. Regulars have their own personalized beer mugs and wine glasses, just waiting to be filled. At lunch, expect the Porky Salad (breaded pork loin on greens with original house dressing) and the more traditional sausage platter (grilled bratwurst with sauerkraut and potato salad). Evening entrées include jaeger schnitzel (pork loin cloaked with a mushroom wine sauce and served with spätzle). Châteaubriand a la Vienna for two proposes a prime cut filet in a port wine sauce paired with butter-sautéed vegetables. All entrées come with warm bread and cream cheese spread. Desserts include a warm Granny Smith apple strudel or a thick slice of chocolate cake.
