Centro Cocina Mexicana Restaurant Review:
Those looking for a fun night out with family or friends need turn no further than this popular midtown eatery. The atmosphere is lively, the music loud, the service friendly and the food showcases the best of what our neighbor south of the border has to offer. Dishes are carefully crafted with fresh, local ingredients. Starters include crispy masa turnovers stuffed with jack cheese and chiles and sweet potato cakes topped with pork and pineapple salsa. Mains run the gamut, and include wood-grilled carnitas with grilled vegetables, pulled chicken enchilada with mole, and pasta with grilled shrimp and chipotle sauce. Desserts are artful, and include flambé plantains with rum sauce and warm chocolate cake with dulce de leche ice cream. The bar is a boisterous hangout before or after a meal, featuring more than 150 tequilas and a dozen-plus Oaxacan mezcals.
