Chiang's Gourmet Restaurant Review:
This classic Chinese restaurant will bring out your moo shu cravings with its red faux-leather banquettes, giant Lazy Susans laden with family feasts and a well-lived-in feel. But make sure you flip through all three versions of the menu you're handed: while Chiang’s does a serviceable job on Chinese-American classics, the real treasures live in the smaller menu of more authentically Chinese foods. Handmade Shanghai-style noodles with pork are a must, prepared with freshly-made, bouncy-textured thick noodles dotted with thin slices of pork. Spice-hounds won’t want to miss the crunchy fried “five-star” chicken with the bonus fun of digging the crispy meat out from under the heaps of peppers. There’s no dessert (except the free fortune cookie), but expect a short and simple list of affordable American wines and a rotating selection of Chinese and domestic bottled beers. The dim sum/brunch offering isn't the traditional Hong Kong affair, but a Northern-style version with plenty of dough-based goodies.
