Coastal Flats Restaurant Review:
Because Coastal Flats has found its niche, the best advice is this: come early, or make a reservation, and either way, you may have to wait. This eatery, twin to its counterpart in Fairfax, has become an acknowledged source of well-prepared American staples, from cheeseburgers to platters of sautéed shrimp and creamy grits. Because the dinner and lunch menus are virtually the same, you can be sure to fit in either a calorie-conscious grilled salmon salad or satisfy the inner glutton with an order of low country beef-back ribs with a side of redskin mashed potatoes. We also enjoy the shrimp roll, really a meal in itself. No visit here would be complete without a wedge of the Key lime pie, but there’s also banana pudding with caramel and chocolate sauces, a modern-day finish to this Southern classic. Also located at 11901 Grand Commons Ave., Fairfax, 571-522-6300.
