Copa Wine Bar Restaurant Review:
Copa’s accent is quasi-Castellano, as is its décor, though its wines come from around the world, with an emphasis on Europe and America’s West Coast. Tapas are accordingly eclectic, leading off with paella fritters, and following with amply stuffed mushrooms, hummus San Antonio with chipotle, or pommes frites with frequently changing dipping sauces. Meat-and-cheese platters keep the palate engaged (we especially appreciate the chorizo-serrano-prosciutto combo with red wines). A selection of crisp pizzettes --- think caprese and “la Blanca” with caramelized onions and mozzarella --- goes mano a mano with the list’s more assertive wines. Both flights and bottle pricing at just slightly higher than retail encourage sampling, and late hours are designed for lingering, though busy nights can get noisy, especially in the upper-level mezzanine. A weekly special dessert is available alongside the s’mores pot de crème and chocolate decadence cake.
