Dragonfish Asian Cafe Restaurant Review:
Situated inside the Paramount Hotel across from the landmark Paramount Theater, Dragonfish Asian Café is well-located for pre-theatre dining and provides a fun, slightly noisy ambience from breakfast into the wee hours. The pan-Asian menu lists shareable plates and reasonable prices, but with average quality. Best bests include the caramel ginger chicken topped with peanuts and the fried squid with sesame aïoli. Lettuce leaves become cups for a mélange of minced chicken, shiitake mushrooms, pine nuts, ginger and garlic in pungent oyster sauce. The extensive menu also includes sushi rolls and bento boxes. Desserts have plenty of razzle-dazzle, from the tropical fruit sorbet to the five-spice chocolate fudge cake. The traditional breakfast menu offers American classics plus a wicked wasabi Bloody Mary. There’s nearly always a special or happy hour available.
