El Porton Mexican Restaurant Restaurant Review:
More Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican, El Portón’s menu features various lunchtime combination plates and Tex-Mex’s heavy emphasis on meats, sour cream and cheese. Avocado-studded chicken soup, however, comes close to soups found in the Yucatán, and the lime-cured shrimp ceviche has hints of Mexican authenticity. Fajitas, a Tex-Mex classic, are available, as well as half-a-dozen vegetarian dishes. Margaritas are tasty and good Mexican beers are available, too, along with a few domestics. Do not expect the house wines to excite. Among the desserts, choose the house-made flan. Other locations.
