Emiliano's Cafe Restaurant Review:

Emiliano's Café bills its cuisine as Pan-Latin, which sounds suitably trendy. However, most diners will recognize the heavy Puerto Rican influence on the kitchen, which turns out down-home black beans, chicken and rice and marinated pork with garlic butter sauce, as well as savory empanadas and twice-fried plantains. Nuevo Latino dishes make a showing with such innovations as grilled chicken breast with guava barbecue sauce and rum-glazed pork chops with pineapple-plantain salsa. Oh, and did we mention the chipotle-laced brownies? The restaurant offers a hearty, aromatic Caldo Gallego---a Spanish soup thick with meat and garbanzo beans---that could stand alone for lunch or a light supper. Vegetarians can feast on black bean burgers or platters of beans, rice and plantains. Although it's impossible to drop into Emiliano's without succumbing to at least a tapas plate, passersby are likely to be drawn to the restaurant's oh-so-inviting European-style sidewalk dining area.
