Goode Co. Armadillo Palace Restaurant Review:
It’s easy to find the Goode family’s Armadillo Palace. It’s next door to their barbecue joint and across the street from the family’s taqueria. And there’s a 16-foot armadillo out front, which should be your first clue that this isn’t a normal restaurant. Part Texana museum, part honky tonk and all burger joint, the Armadillo is the perfect spot to take out-of-towners, listen to some live Texas tunes and chow down. The space is filled with buffalo heads, gator skulls, guns, horns, saddles and Old West photos. Dig into the chicken fajita nacho platter and wash it down with a couple of cold St. Arnold’s beers. Then nosh on an eight-ounce sirloin burger, the frito pie with venison chili, the grilled chicken with ranchero sauce and sliced avocado with mashed potatoes, or for the light eater in the group, the 1836 salad of mixed greens, cheddar and Jack cheeses, crispy tortilla strips and fresh shucked corn. It’s good ol’ fashioned eats---and plenty of them---at the ’dillo.
