When you can’t get a reservation at Michael Schwartz’s signature restaurant down the block, head to informal Harry’s Pizzeria, named for his son. Nothing beats a starter like creamy-rich homemade ricotta with wood oven-grilled toast or polenta fries (crisp-outside, creamy within) with house ketchup laced with garlic and chiles. Pizzas sport aromatic blistered crusts with toppings such as caponata eggplant with mozzarella, pecorino and basil; oyster mushrooms, Taleggio and roasted poblano peppers; and slow-roasted pork with figs and Fontina. There are also creative salads and daily dinner specials, from half a roast chicken to leg of lamb plus biscotti of the day.
