Highland Kitchen Menu
A true gastropub offering American fare as well as cocktails in an unpretentious setting.
Highland Kitchen Restaurant Review:
Highland Kitchen has turned a generic, unassuming neighborhood bar space in the residential Spring Hill section of Somerville into a budget-minded gourmand's dining destination. Chef Mark Romano plates an eclectic mix of casual American bar food, regional New England specialties, and enormous sandwiches for a youthful crowd of hipsters and area folks. Try the ricotta and mozzarella fritters or smoked bluefish cakes before moving on to a Cuban Reuben or a black bean veggie burger. One may also encounter spicy coconut curried goat stew, braised rabbit fettuccine and fish ‘n’ chips. Bar snacks, including chili cheese fries and chicken liver toast, round out a reasonably priced menu. Save room for the bourbon pecan pie topped with vanilla ice cream. Sunday brunch means down-home specialties like a pulled pork sandwich. Highland Kitchen offers a well-crafted cocktail list that leans toward vintage concoctions, like Tom Collins and Singapore Sling. There's also a row of artisanal brews on tap that will please even the pickiest beer connoisseur. Friendly service and a jukebox full of American tracks complement the noisy atmosphere.
