Hopdoddy Burger Bar Restaurant Review:
Dallas has no shortage of excellent burger places, but that doesn't mean diners don't welcome tasty newcomers --- particularly when they grind their own all-natural Black Angus beef, bake their own fluffy buns and make nearly all their condiments from scratch, as Austin-born Hopdoddy does. The beef burgers are made from a juicy blend of chuck and brisket, and are cooked however you like, whether that's still mooing or medium-well, and come in a plethora of different setups including the Terlingua, a meaty, messy concoction smothered in chili, Fritos, cheddar and "Sassy sauce" (a zesty blend of mustard, mayo and horseradish). The menu isn't just limited to red meat, though; there's also a nicely seared ahi burger with sweet teriyaki and honey-wasabi sauces, a flavorful Greek lamb burger adorned with feta and creamy tzatziki, and even a veggie burger built from black beans and corn. The fast-casual, order-at-the-counter setup has multiple lines that can be confusing for first-timers, but always-smiling staffers are on hand to point patrons in the right direction. Beverage options are wide-ranging almost to the point of being overwhelming, with plenty of local craft beers on tap, sustainable wines, creative cocktails like the Black Cherry Hard Limeade, and perhaps best of all, thick, creamy milk shakes in flavors like Nutella Pretzel.
