Hungry Tarpon Restaurant Review:
Hungry Tarpon began as a simple pit stop and expanded over the years from a cement block building painted aqua to a sprawl of outdoor tables, some covered by tarps with dangling strings of lights in the evening. It is far from fancy, but is considered “gourmet” in these parts with a notable wine list, too. Breakfast on a lobster frittata or biscuits and gravy. Menu highlights include island-style conch ceviche, grilled mahi mahi with tropical fruit sauce, and the tuna “roll” of roasted peppers rolled up with ginger wasabi inside a slice of ahi. There’s also an eight-ounce Angus burger and surf ‘n’ turf with filet mignon and shrimp scampi. Complete the meal with a stroll down the pier to watch the tarpon shimmer.
