Il Capriccio on Vermont Restaurant Review:
It's not hard to like this neighborhood trattoria with solid, honest preparations of old classics and an occasional surprise from the open kitchen. This is a cozy space, with burnt-orange walls lined with gallery art and candlelit tables topped with linen and butcher paper. Friendly servers deliver crunchy fried calamari and cheese-stuffed portobello mushrooms for starters, followed by a spirited penne arrabiata, lasagna, chicken Marsala, lobster ravioli, a bone-in veal chop and some fish specials. Desserts include tiramisu, panna cotta and a relatively light ricotta cheesecake. Il Capriccio offers a decent Cal-Italian wine list with very reasonable prices. Vermont remains one of L.A.’s most quirky and eclectic streets, and this friendly restaurant fits right in.
