India Palace Restaurant Review:
Serving appealing North and South Indian cuisine, this cozy spot features lace window curtains, tables set with white linen and walls adorned with framed scenes of India. Its expansive menu includes various preparations of soup, rice, traditional naan breads, vegetables, tandoori oven-baked dinners, chicken, goat, lamb and seafood. The moderately priced daily all-you-can-eat lunch buffet presents samplings of the chef’s versatility. For starters, we like the vegetable pakoras and tomato soup accompanied by sambar vada---fried lentil donuts, a South Indian specialty. Most rice dishes are prepared with saffron-flavored basmati rice, cashews, almonds and raisins. We also suggest the fish curry cooked in a blend of tomato and spices, and the tandoori chicken marinated in yogurt and spices. Vegetarian dishes such as sag paneer, or spinach with homemade cheese, or bindhi masala, a combination of okra and potatoes tossed in masala spices, will have even devout carnivores asking for more. The mango custard with large chunks of mango and the saffron-flavored rice pudding with almonds and cashews are good finales.
