The J. Clyde Restaurant Review:
Walk down brick-paved Cobb Lane and discover The J. Clyde. A burgundy tiled panel behind the polished wood bar sports a long line of taps, showing this is the place for serious beer fans. If the extensive beer list proves daunting, order a flight of four to sample. Alabama has been celebrating ever since the Gourmet Beer Bill was enacted in 2008, and the owners, brother and sister Jerry and Susan Hartley, have long supported Free the Hops in Alabama. Both are dedicated beer enthusiasts. The pub menu offers plenty of choices, including fish ‘n’ chips and sweet potato fries. Pizzas are baked with Continental Bakery dough that incorporates spent grain from Good People Brewing. Burgers are made with grass-fed beef. There are a number of options for vegetarians, including a bean burger and eggplant lasagna. Dinner hours expand the options with pork cheek tacos or Alabama catfish meunière with Gouda grits, collard greens and Louisiana crawfish-brown butter sauce. For dessert, try a stout or root beer float, although the farro pudding or bread pudding appeal as well. Watch for a cask or firkin of something new arriving, restarting the celebration.
