Jaipur Royal Indian Cuisine Restaurant Review:
Awash in shades of pink reminiscent of its namesake city, this restaurant is seductive and lush with its Indian trappings and pungent cooking aromas. Crowded even long after normal mealtimes, Jaipur presents a full-fledged menu and a buffet table that literally creaks under the weight of its many dishes. The menu pulls together fare from the country's northernmost regions. Meat and seafood play big, but vegetarians are not forgotten. Jaipur's cooks present an interesting array of some of India's finest vegetarian dishes, including baby potatoes bathed in a fiery Kashmiri curry, fragrant black or yellow dals, and kebabs of paneer, or Indian-style cottage cheese, skewered with vegetables and cooked in the tandoor. We recommend the meats, especially the lamb vindaloo and the fancy Jaipur chicken. Don't know where to begin? Select the appetizer Pink City Platter (in veg and non-veg versions); in the non-veg version get samplings of a pakora, a samosa and kebabs, plus much more. The tandoori breads are a must, as are the plain or mango lassis and the rose-flavored steamed cheese dumplings for dessert.
