Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q Restaurant Review:
Wood piled outside isn’t just for decoration. The wood becomes fuel that fires the smokers to turn pork shoulders, ribs and beef brisket into the basics of barbecue. Classic Southern fare beyond barbecue is consistently good in this far-flung chain that's based in Birmingham, Alabama. Use it for a quick snack stop, and savor the smoked pork hot links, four spicy, nicely textured and quite large sausages, with pimento cheese and saltine crackers. Thankfully, the well-seasoned meat doesn't need the too ketchup-y barbecue sauce. We also recommend the smoked beef brisket and pulled pork, the latter with a good proportion of outside meat to inside. Very good slaw, potato salad and collards are among the sides. Classic pies comprise dessert---go for the coconut cream. Tuesdays are for tacos, filled with catfish, beef, pork and chicken. Like other locations in this chain, this one has a generous bar.
