Kimonos Restaurant Review:
Sushi and karaoke are the stars at Kimonos, a small space decorated with teak walls and floors, rice paper lanterns and elegant kimonos. Start with the beef satay with a spicy mango dipping sauce or some braised pork belly with Hokkaido dashi and goji berry sauce. Tempura and teriyaki are also available. Swift and skillful sushi artists keep the orders flying. Stick with traditional rolls and raw fish or try one of the creations like the signature Kimonos roll with tuna, yellowtail, salmon and a wasabi mayonnaise, or the Banzai roll with spicy tuna, avocado and eel. There's a full bar with Japanese whiskey signature cocktails --- the kimonos dragon and coconut saké snow are standouts --- but most everyone is sipping saké and nibbling raw fish. Karaoke kicks in late at night, so head there a little earlier for a more peaceful meal or a little later if you enjoy some singing fun.
