The Kitchen Restaurant Review:
The skills of executive chef Kelly McCown and his team take center stage at the hours-long, five-course demonstration dinners offered by The Kitchen. The live version of a TV cooking show is known for its extravagance and makes a unique dining experience. The prix-fixe menu changes regularly, but diners can count on fresh seafood and meat, seasonal produce and decadent desserts. Menus have included a chilled tomato coulis with Dungeness crab, pan-roasted saké-marinated monkfish tail, butter-poached beef tenderloin and an apple tart with vanilla sauce. The chefs themselves suggest wines for each course, but their carefully selected wine list invites independent exploring. The venue is often booked months in advance, and while dinner is a pricey $135 per person, The Kitchen offers its wines at retail --- not restaurant --- prices.
