La Crêpe Michel Restaurant Review:
Food:A meal at La Crêpe Michel will remind you of the lovely simplicity of good French food. Owner Claudie Zamet-Wilcox offers classics like crusty baguettes, full-bodied country pâté, Brie en croûte and tender crêpes filled with everything from shrimp and scallops in a light mushroom velouté to pork in mustard-cream sauce. Old standards dominate the list of seasonal entrées and the dessert selection as well, from duck à l’orange to beef Wellington and chocolate mousse to crème brûlée with flavors changing daily. Of course, sweet crêpes are the house specialty; the wide array of fillings includes honey-walnut, banana-rum, and our favorite, three-cream. The repertoire befits the charming setting: La Crêpe Michel is located in an eighteenth-century adobe tucked into an Old Town alley, where the very air is steeped in tradition.
About the restaurant & Drinks: The dining room is tiny, but there is also an enclosed garden room --- complete with a living tree growing through the roof --- that is light and pleasant. And the reasonably priced all-French wine list only enhances the vibe: there's nothing like a bottle of brut rosé or northern Rhône Syrah to accompany your très Gallic meal (although Belgian beers and even hard cider have their place as well).
