La Petite Maison Restaurant Review:
With acid-etched windows that extol the memorable spots of Paris, candles and flowers on the tables, and a fine enclosed all-weather street-facing patio, La Petite Maison seems very bistro-like in the middle of modern American mayhem. French classics rule, from croque madame and croque monsieur to a variety of quiche options at lunch, and at dinner, a creamy, slightly pink house-made terrine of foie gras with chutney or a big plate of sweet mussels in a cream sauce, either being plenty to share. We like the duck in Cointreau, a fried mixed seafood, steak with béarnaise sauce, and rack of lamb with Provençal herbs. Get a side of ratatouille to embellish any of this fare. Among the traditional desserts, our choice is the tarte Tatin with caramel sauce or the chocolate mousse. The wine list needs to step up its game, but for a $20 corkage fee, you can bring your own.
