Leatherby's Cafe Rouge Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant and décor: Most patrons come to this Patina Group outpost at the ultra-modern Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall for pre-theater dining. But Leatherby's Café Rouge is truly a spot for fine dining regardless of whether you have tickets in hand for the evening's performance or not. The concert hall's undulating, transparent walls set the scene for sophisticated drama. A redesigned interior has introduced dark gray banquettes and a crimson rug, among other enhancements. The new bar-lounge at the entrance is where you may want to begin your visit with a glass of wine or a cocktail.
Food & Drinks: Executive chef and former Thomas Keller understudy Greg Stillman helms the kitchen. The menu has shifted its focus to a steakhouse milieu oscillating between classic and contemporary. Look for starters like shrimp cocktail with horseradish, moving on to an array of steaks, such as USDA Prime tenderloin and rib-eye. Choose from other options as well, from Colorado rack of lamb to Scottish salmon with an agave lime glaze. Don't miss out on Leatherby's meal-enders, like a hazelnut mousse crunch bar. The wine list is extensive, with well-chosen selections mostly from France and California.
