Lia’s Restaurant Review:
The chef behind the scenes is the everywhere guy, chef Geoffrey Tracy, of DC eateries Chef Geoff’s Downtown and Chef Geoff’s Uptown. He’s branched out into the ’burbs to offer a family-style, Italian-themed restaurant that absolutely bubbles with gatherings and friendly chatter. Divided into two dining rooms and a bar area, Lia’s sets a neighborly tone: the friendly staff gets you settled and fed with sure-footed ease. We also like the menu choices, with enough low- and high-cal options to satisfy the whole crew. Try the entrée of crispy calamari Caesar salad, or the house special steamed mussels; for those who want to go whole hog, Lia’s (well, chef Geoff) offers plenty of pizza choices, hearty pastas, two risottos (think quail or saffron with seafood), sandwiches, and serious meat and seafood entrées. And note that few Italian places around town take the time and effort to offer Italian cheesecake made with ricotta, and that’s one of Lia’s special desserts.
