M.B. Post Menu
310-545-5405
A casual neighborhood restaurant from noted chef David LeFevre.
M.B. Post Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: Chef David LeFevre, a Charlie Trotter protégé and former Water Grill toque, and the Simms Restaurant Group (Simmzy's, Tin Roof Bistro) are behind M.B. Post in Manhattan Beach. The space --- originally the Manhattan Beach Post Office --- features exposed rafters, reclaimed wood, communal tables and beach-inspired design touches like volleyball posts turned into shelving. Despite his fine dining training and experience, LeFevre offers a rustic, seasonally inspired menu of shared plates in this casual, approachable environment.
Food & Drinks: You’ll find items such as bacon-cheddar buttermilk biscuits with Vermont maple butter, seared diver scallops with corn purée, and pale ale-battered halibut cheeks with Meyer lemon rémoulade. A few Asian-inspired dishes include Blue Lake green beans with chili sauce and crispy pork, and Vietnamese caramel pork jowls with green papaya salad. The wine list is an intriguing collection of primarily boutique producers, with about 30 poured by the glass. For dessert, consider a buttermilk panna cotta or “The Elvis,” which LeFevre’s menu describes as “a mess of chocolate pudding, peanut butter mousse and bacon brittle.” If you're in the mood for seafood, check out sister establishment Fishing With Dynamite just a few doors down.
