Mai Lee Restaurant Review:

Owner Lee Tran introduced Vietnamese cooking to St. Louis, and her restaurant remains at the forefront for its affordability and consistently good food. Pad thai and bowls of meat-studded vermicelli are popular, but we're partial to the roasted duck in a ginger sauce. Soups and hot pots are standouts, and the banh cong (Vietnamese pancake) is a delight, its fluffy, crêpe-like egg encasing a variety of treats. To explore more of the menu, consider a multi-course prix-fixe dinner for two, three or four. The do-it-yourself spring rolls are fun for a group, too, since they allow everyone to choose fillings. Wine, beer and cocktails are all available, but for the best finish to your meal, try a Vietnamese iced coffee rich with condensed milk, one of the unsung treats of the cuisine.
