The Majestic Grille Restaurant Review:
The vibe inside The Majestic Grille still smacks of 20th-century Hollywood chic, even though the building hasn’t been a movie house in decades. But the downtown space was built in 1913 as the Majestic No. 1, a silent movie theater, and the original projection area remains intact. They even occasionally screen classic movies for patrons. Décor is Art Deco with a touch of modern class. A large palm tree in the center of the restaurant adds to the Hollywood feel. The cuisine is contemporary with an occasional Southern twist. There’s lemon-grilled chicken, a bacon-blue cheese burger, and wild mushroom tortellini. Steaks are aged 21 days and served with butter and garlic mashed potatoes or fries. Majestic’s dessert shots --- tiny servings of Key lime pie, tiramisu and carrot cake, served in shot glasses --- are locally famous. The wine list is decent with a good number of wines offered by the glass. The cocktail menu is heavy on vintage selections dating back to the early 1900s. Located a block away from the historic Orpheum Theatre, where touring Broadway shows are always playing, The Majestic offers a special pre-theater menu for show-goers.
