Mamma Lucia Restaurant Review:
The premise here is a simple yet glorified take on the cafeteria where patrons help themselves. Diners line up at the kitchen counter, make a selection or selections from the posted menus, and when the order is ready a waiter delivers the food. Or, if you prefer, they will prepare it for take-out. As the name indicates, this place serves home-style Italian food that can be good, or just slightly off. We've rhapsodized over the tiramisu, a triumph here of sponge cake and a rich, creamy filling. But we also found the calzone with its ricotta cheese filling lacking flavor. Perhaps the key is to stick to the New York-style pizza or the meat-based entrées such as the chicken with prosciutto and mozzarella. You may love the food, but you'll really love the low prices; whole families can dine out (or in) without breaking the bank. Other locations.
