Manning's Restaurant Review:
In Louisiana, Archie Manning, father of Peyton and Eli, is synonymous with great football. He now helms Manning’s in busy Fulton Square, in the heart of the downtown tourist district. Part of the Harrah’s New Orleans hotel and casino complex, Manning’s is a big, sprawling sports bar and high-decibel 210-seat restaurant, complete with 30 flat-screens for viewing --- what else? --- football, along with one huge 13-foot screen. A semi-private area called The End Zone offers 17 comfortable recliners by reservation only on game days. The menu focuses on meat and potatoes, with a heavy side of comfort food: sliders, burgers, mac ‘n’ cheese, jambalaya, ribs, gumbo and pastas. One reason to go back to Manning’s is the bourbon-infused apple pouches for dessert. Unfortunately, the place is a bit pricey for the product: a burger is $14, once you order the à la carte toppings. The food is inexplicably under-seasoned in a town that is known for spice. The wine list is very brief, with about 12 to 15 selections, mostly reds. Mixed drinks or beer are the most popular quaffs.
