Mary Chung Restaurant Review:
Mary Chung opened in 1977 as one of greater Boston's first, and best, Szechuan restaurants. Today her place is a sure thing not only for the baby boomers who first discovered authentic Chinese cuisine here, but also for the MIT students who make it their home away from home. Never mind the rather cramped, brightly-lit room circled with red Naugahyde booths --- it's the tightly-wrapped, crisp spring rolls they come for, along with moo shu pork; bean curd with mushrooms; the famous dun dun noodles, tossed with shredded chicken and peanut sauce; and Szechuan spiced beef (the spicier the better). Pork fried rice, crab Rangoon and chicken teriyaki are staples, but we prefer to be a little more adventurous with a sampling of Peking special sauce noodles kicked up with a bit of sriracha. Cool things down with pineapple chunks for dessert.
