The Matador Tacoma Restaurant Review:
Spicy Tex-Mex food, a sexy atmosphere and a 21-and-over age restriction distinguish this Tacoma hot-spot. It's housed in a red-brick building with high ceilings, exposed metal beams and antique light fixtures. The dimly lit bar --- check out the tequila selection ---is a welcome destination for a quick after-work drink. Starters are shareable, such as grilled stuffed jalapeño peppers, mushrooms sautéed in white wine and chipotle-garlic butter, and butternut squash quesadillas filled with caramelized onions and goat cheese. Braised pork shoulder and enchiladas verdes are among entrées. For a sweet finale, don’t miss the molten chocolate cake with vanilla bean ice cream and a rum-caramel sauce. The wine selections include interesting options from California and the Pacific Northwest.
