Medora’s Mecca Restaurant Review:
Before or after your next ballgame or concert, visit Medora's, a reliable spot in South Philly that manages to stand out from the crowd. It’s not because of the décor --- the setting is minimal at best --- it's the food and the mood. Medora’s is a down-home eatery, the kind of place where the waitress knows better than you. Not too many restaurants serve tripe and spaghetti anymore, but Medora's does, as well as a Caesar salad that is fresh and tangy. The pasta is al dente and the ravioli homemade, doused in red sauce that is blessedly straightforward, without a hint of sweetness. This isn't the stop for newfangled eats --- stick with the standards such as veal and chicken Parm, or spaghetti with clam sauce. And don't miss the homemade meatballs, served like true Italian beauties --- generously formed and a little bit spicy. Try the cannoli for dessert.
