About the restaurant: Mr. John’s is a place for savoring a leisurely, albeit heavy, steak dinner. With the ambience of a steakhouse from yesteryear, including tile floors, ceiling fans, lots of wood and soft lighting, it is a far cry from some of the dazzling newer restaurants nearby.

Food & Drinks: Diners may indeed choose from several cuts of USDA Prime corn-fed beef, all of which come sizzling in butter in the style made famous at the original Ruth's Chris Steak House. If it is not red meat you crave, consider some of the chef’s Italian specialties. The Tuscan-style veal chop or the twin broiled lobster tails are good alternatives. Befitting its mission, the wine list, which is frequently updated, focuses on big, beefy reds (the best hail from Italy and California), but only a few are offered by the glass and there are no half bottles. You’ll also find some fortified wines for dessert and sparkling wines and Champagnes for festive purposes. Finish with the New York style cheesecake, the red velvet brownie or cannoli.
