Myers + Chang Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: Myers + Chang is a cheerfully slick, inexpensive Pan-Asian diner --- in short, just what the South End needed.
Food: The hotspot offers kicky yet comfortable home cooking with dumplings, hot and cold noodles, and the ever-changing but always tasty fried rice. We like the crispy spring rolls; sweet and spicy chicken wings made with orange peel, sesame and purple chilies; the braised pork belly buns with brandy hoisin sauce; and the restaurant’s take on Southern-style chicken and waffles --- the latter are made with ginger, topped with sesame honey butter and a “surprising” sauce. A glass of saké pairs well with the pan-roasted soy-glazed salmon made with ginger, sriracha and sugar. Joanne Chang made a name for herself in the city with her flour bakery + cafe, so desserts are topnotch. The chocolate peanut butter layer cake with soft cream and liquid chocolate left us dreaming of a return visit. Also look for a weekend dim sum brunch menu.
