Niki's West Steak & Seafood Restaurant Restaurant Review:
Lines can be long at Niki’s West, home to one of the largest meat-and-three steam tables in town, but they move quickly. Alternatively, take a seat in one of the nautically themed dining rooms, order from a menu, and let the bustling waitresses handle your wishes. In business since 1957, the Hontzas family has developed a diverse lineup of customer favorites. As if the cafeteria steam table, offering more than 40 fresh vegetables and homemade salads alongside an array of meats, weren’t enough, there are separate breakfast, seafood and steak menus. The favorites are beef tips and rice, Creole salmon, veal cutlet with tomato sauce or country-fried steak with seemingly limitless sides. Baked Greek chicken also is a popular option. Seven-layer salad, zucchini and tomatoes, sweet potatoes, mac ‘n’ cheese or the greens are good bets, but it’s hard to miss with any of the fresh vegetables. Also considered sides are sweet offerings such as banana pudding and apple and peach cobblers. The cobblers are popular, but if they don’t tempt, the lemon ice box pie just down the line will. Niki’s West does not serve alcohol, so make your dinner quaff the traditional icy glass of sweet tea.
