No Frill Bar & Grill Restaurant Review:
Located around the corner from the Naro Theatre in the heart of Norfolk’s historic Ghent district, No Frill Bar & Grill is a favorite stop for play and movie-goers as well as area denizens. Its diverse menu features baked French onion soup, Asian portobello salad, club sandwiches, loaded pierogies, funky chicken salad and buffalo shrimp. Many of the dishes --- crabs, catfish, barbecued chicken and ribs --- have a definite local flavor with just a hint of Cajun or Mexican spices tossed into the mix to give them a bit of punch. Check the website for daily specials such as lightly blackened pork rib-eye with sautéed peaches and shallots, cornbread-pecan stuffing, fresh pink-eyed peas, beer mustard and red wine syrup. We also recommend the vegetarian nachos and pita sandwiches. Dessert nirvana may be found in any of the giant, homemade six-layer cakes or a seasonal eggnog cheesecake paired with creative coffees. There are ten-plus exotic martinis. Also located at 1620 Laskin Rd., Virginia Beach, 757-425-2900.
