One North Kitchen & Bar Restaurant Review:

Dubbed a "contemporary American brasserie," this restaurant often tries to be too many things to too many people. The relentlessly trendy, globally accented selection bops from a tuna taco with pickled jícama slaw to Bolognese pasta. (Don’t bother with the burger.) A hodgepodge of ingredients spoils some dishes, while others are undone by careless preparation. The filet --- crusted with bone marrow --- is among the few hits, along with the molten chocolate cake. Other dishes may include tuna with eggplant caponata; pan-roasted cod with shiitakes, corn and balsamic butter; and duck breast with shallot confit, chestnuts and polenta gnocchi. The spacious, but loud, dining room and bar done in warm woods and stone is handsome enough, which is a plus. During opera season, the restaurant is open for dinner on Saturdays.
