The Palm Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: Part of an international chain, The Palm feels like home to transplanted New Yorkers who yearn for a nostalgic taste of the Big Apple. This branch is located one block from Crypto Center in the once-dreary South Park neighborhood, suddenly exploding with high-end condos and lofts. The signature high-backed wood booths, caricature-filled walls and crisp white linens are all found here, amid vintage columns and chandeliers.
Food & Drinks: The menu delivers all the usual steakhouse staples, as well as Italian specialties like veal Marsala and chicken Parmigiana. Start with clams casino or a jumbo lump crab cake before moving on to the big, juicy steaks. The three-pound-plus lobsters, paired with a steak for The Palm surf ‘n’ turf specialty, are also popular. Among side dishes, we suggest the creamed spinach and fried onion strings (which we forgive for being a bit greasy). A big red wine from California, Bordeaux or Piedmont is the best way to wash it all down, and the list is more than respectable. Cheesecake, flown in from the Bronx, is a good way to finish, before being shocked by the bill.
