Pasha's Restaurant Review:
The innovative Miami-based mini-chain, which began well over a dozen years ago as a Harvard Business school MBA project, offers a glimpse into what the world of fast food could be like if only the foods were as tasty, fresh ingredient-driven, and healthy as they were fast. Creative light bites and heartier entrées, inspired by Eastern Mediterranean cuisines but not actually from those countries, are served in either simple self-service or more comfortable full-service settings appropriate to their neighborhoods and/or venues in which they’re housed. Food comes nearly as quickly as at greasy burger or Tex-Mex chains, but contains no preservatives, MSG or trans fats. For breakfast, we like the “eggselent wraps”; try the one with scrambled eggs plus savory chicken breast sausage, onions, tomatoes, green pepper, Mediterranean cheese and spicy harissa sauce. There are variously-topped rice bowls, and snackers who just want to take the edge off should grab, if available, a custardy borek (like Greek spinach pie but lighter). Desserts such as the walnut-studded nutelino (a less cloyingly sweet version of baklava) are a treat, as are fresh-squeezed juices, especially tangerine.
