The Pat Connolly Tavern Restaurant Review:
The Pat Connolly Tavern is a popular place for refueling after activity in nearby Forest Park, especially softball league games or zoo visits. Adults dig into fried chicken, toasted ravioli and fish ‘n’ chips; kids usually go for burgers. Breaded chicken liver and gizzards have a dedicated following, as do the frogs’ legs, a popular seasonal special. On the healthier side, there’s a rosemary-white bean dip appetizer and a grilled salmon burger with chipotle mayo. Make a meal of those and you’ll feel better about indulging in the Sugaree pies or Park Ave. gooey butter cakes (a sugary-rich local delicacy). An upstairs game and music room with its own bar can be booked for private events.
