Pecorino Restaurant Review:

In the space formerly occupied by Woodside and Zax, Pecorino adds to the Italian restaurant scene along San Vincente Boulevard. Previously at Toscana, owners Mario Sabatini and Giorgio Pierangeli have kept the brick wall décor and the open kitchen, which can sometimes be noisy. An elegant clientele of mostly locals come to sample the Italian cuisine of the chef, Raffaele, Mario's twin brother, offering a classic Italian menu with antipasti, soups, pastas and entrées. An arugula salad with Parmesan, a baked onion filled with eggplant and raisins, steak carpaccio or a fava bean soup can be the first part of your meal. You might hesitate deciding between the vast choices of pasta in which many of them you'll find the namesake sheep's milk cheese, like the cacio e pepe, or the sea bass cooked in parchment with porcini mushrooms, the diavola-style Cornish chicken, the pork (a tad dry), and the 20-ounce bone-in rib-eye. We like the pear au gratin with almonds or millefoglie with almond tiles and strawberry mousse for dessert. Expect a sometimes pricey, mostly Italian wine list.
