Pio Pio Salon Restaurant Review:
The success of the Upper East Side’s tiny Peruvian chicken emporium has been translated on the Upper West Side in a lively restaurant that offers creative cocktails and mammoth portions of ceviches and, of course, moist Peruvian chicken. Combination platters are shareable: the Matador Combo holds tostones, sausage, a whole marinated chicken, avocado salad and fries. Start with a ceviche or avocado stuffed with shrimp to start and a bright, sparkly glass (or pitcher) of white sangría, followed by what might be some of the best chicken in the city (and a great bargain). Don’t miss Pio Pio’s green hot sauce; it goes well on chicken and everything else. The restaurant attracts uptown and downtown folks and it’s always noisy and fun.
