Pompei Bakery Restaurant Review:
Since 1909, this has been the place for carryout pizza (but there are tables if you care to eat in). Big, thick squares of bready pizza --- open-face, stuffed or regular --- with toppings that go from anchovy to zucchini and back again are tasty. The line (expect one at high-noon) moves fast as the pizza gets crisp in the oven. As an alternative, try a sandwich --- we like the pepper-and-egg and the potato-and-egg --- or the hand-cut fettuccine Alfredo. And do consider the daily specials, which range from lentil soup to chicken limone. House-made desserts, such as piped-to-order cannoli, up the ante. Other locations.
