Porcini Restaurant Review:
You'll find everything you need --- other than elbow room --- at this family-owned Italian, where chef Steve Sansone keeps it real in the kitchen. Bring an Italian wine and enjoy the savory simplicity of roasted Sicilian artichoke hearts, and oven-roasted mushrooms with heirloom tomato concassé. We also recommend the pastas, notably the ravioli stuffed with braised pulled veal shank and Fontina, and the house-made cannelloni filled with fresh ricotta and spinach in rosé sauce. The chef's deft hand and reliance on fresh ingredients --- including the herbs he grows organically in his rooftop garden --- are what make you feel as if you're in a tiny, noisy trattoria in Rome.
