Quality Italian Restaurant Review:
If a restaurant is going to have such a boastful name, it better live up to it. Fortunately, for this Midtown eatery, it does. On the second floor overlooking bustling Sixth Avenue and W. 57th Street, Quality Italian’s décor is a combination of rustic, with a lot of dark wood, and industrial (look up to find a concrete ceiling and plenty of pipes running across the room). The menu is fun, creative and elevated Italian fare, and it largely works. Beet gnudi, intermingled with goat cheese and poppy seeds, splashes in a tangy citrus sauce (that, refreshingly, doesn’t interfere with the flavorful gnudi). Sometimes a corn gnudi is offered and it’s similarly impressive. The massive bone-in tomahawk steak is a carnivore’s delight. On the lighter side, the grilled branzino is fresh and will help you save room for dessert, of which the chocolate olive oil cake is the sure winner to end the meal. The wine list is, expectedly, mostly Italian and generally pricey, with more than 20 options by the glass.
