Raoul's Restaurant Review:

Sometimes the most unpretentious concept becomes the biggest scene, and such is the case with this simple bistro, which is as popular today as the day it opened. One of the first hip spots in SoHo, Raoul's continues to draw the local artist and leggy model set, and Uptowners eager to hang with them. The décor is classic New York storefront: a long narrow room with an Art Deco bar up front, black-tin ceilings, a collection of photos, prints and offbeat calendars as well as booth seating. The menu comes to the table written on a blackboard and changes frequently. It will likely include a pungent country pâté, fresh seafood, fresh oysters, a veal chop and steak au poivre with crispy french fries. The bistro décor is tired, but somehow at Raoul's that only adds to the appeal.
