Russian River Brewing Company Restaurant Review:
The main show here is the beer and the line outside the door proves it to be so. With the popularity of Pliny the Younger (only available two weeks of the year) and its forefather, Pliny the Elder (available year-round), this brewpub has become a cult-like establishment. Don't take offense if the server recommends Damnation --- one of several Belgian-style ales on draught. Close to 20 house-made brews might be scrawled on the chalkboard in this cement-walled warehouse space accented by antique metal beer signs and burlap hops sacks. The pub's menu of pizzas, sandwiches, salads and requisite bar munchies tastes several notches above the usual. It borrows wine country's penchant for pairings: coordinate ales with caramelized onion, sun-dried tomato and feta pizza; something hoppy with the moist meatball hero or "savage" wings; and barrel-aged brews with vinaigrette à la smoked salmon Gorgonzola salad. Indulge and get the brownie for dessert. No reservations translates to waits after work hours and on weekends when live music often takes place.
