A little bit of India on the northwest side of Tucson.
Saffron Indian Bistro Restaurant Review:
Located among a sea of chain restaurants and big-box stores, Saffron Indian Bistro lays claim to some of the most noteworthy Indian food in Tucson. Dishes span the country, and if you prefer a little more heat, all you have to do is ask. Whether it’s a simple vegetable samosa or a rich lamb korma, a meal here is a delight. Fish Malabar has flavors of mustard and coconut; the classic chicken tikka masala is also a winner. There’s a long list of vegetarian plates, including saag paneer, as well as several breads that range from plain naan to bhatura, a deep-fried leavened bread from North India. Tandoori “treasures,” as they're called on the menu, spotlight chicken and seared lamb chops. Just about everything is served with basmati rice, and there are several chutneys as accompaniments. Cool your palate with an icy Indian beer (wine is also available), and for dessert, try the house-made kulfi, an Indian ice cream with pistachios.
